This is a world where happiness is expected and highly concentrated. Emotions are based on mental state not reality, therefore with the correctly calibrated mindset, anyone and anything can be happy at any time anywhere. Capitalist society benefits from targeted marketing in disguise of achieving ‘happiness’. From slogans such as ‘you deserve it!’ to all the staged laughing and energetic commercials where everyone is cheerful as though that is the only acceptable social form, they are all designed to be believed. As a person who strongly disapproves the ways in which being happy or unhappy is judged by the appearance in public and material accessories, I created this series to address these issues in a sarcastic manner.
