Being inspired by traditional Chinese mythic beings, these paintings aim to illustrate a world composed of mythical creatures that reflect human behaviors and emotions. With a focus on romance and fantasy, man-made objects and natural plants and animals are personified and have characteristics of their own. The spirits are from all three planes of this world: the ocean, the earth, and the sky, and they are unified for a more solid world-building concept. Repeated elements such as butterflies and peaches represent hope, love, and celebration of life. Backgrounds are kept simple to suggest vastness of the space, giving the narratives a dream-like quality.
